Lord Ganesha is known to be isht devta for a lot of people and have large number of devotees all around the world. There are certain specific poojas done according to Vedic Jyotish which are performed to make the connected between devotee and the God known as isht devta for the native, further strong. These are different from poojas for planet among Navgraha. Unlike poojas for planets, these poojas are done without motives and are extensively performed to deepen the bond and connection of the native with their respective Gods. It is believed that if a person performs a simple pooja in ambakeshwar temple of Lord Ganesha in Nasik, Ujjain, Haridwar, Gayaji or Badrinath, he is blessed by his or her isht devta. This is a vague criteria for a pooja as different poojas have different vidhi’s. It’s the procedure that defines pooja and not the place. A simple pooja with commitment and dedication performed in temple nearby your home shall result more benefic than undirected and specific pooja in famous religious places. These poojas for the Gods are very effective as they result in blessings from the God or Goddess or pair of God and Goddess. We shall discuss in depth about “How to perform a pooja for Vedic Shri Ganesh Pooja”.
A specific number of mantras are selected that are Ganesh mantras for Shri Ganesh Pooja. This is the first and foremost thing needs to be done before starting Pooja. These can go up to the limit of 125,000 mantras. It is advised to start and end Shri Ganesh Pooja on a Thursday, though this could change as per the requirements of pundits. It takes 7 to 8 days to complete the pooja if the mantras are enchanted for 8 to 10 hours daily.
Shri Shakti Pooja is performed with a specific count of chant or jaap of Shri Shakti Mantra which is also called nivaran mantra of goddess Shakti and this mantra connects to goddess Durga, goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati and goddess Chaamunda at the same time. In Shri Shakti Puja, all the supreme goddesses are worshiped through this one single mantra which makes it purest form of Shakti and this is why it is called Shri Shakti Mantra and the pooja performed with the chant or jaap of this mantra is called Shri Shakti Pooja . Shri Shakti Puja is performed for multiple purposes like overall financial prosperity, financial gains through business, good character and conduct, good knowledge, long life, safety from enemies and many more things and this is the reason why Shri Shakti Pooja has become one of the most prevalent poojas of this time as this pooja is capable of blessing the native with multiple benefits due to blessings of all supreme goddesses in this puja. Shri Shakti Puja is generally started on a Tuesday and it is generally completed on the following Tuesday where the day of start of a Shri Shakti Pooja can sometimes change depending upon the time which is required by the Pandits doing this pooja to complete the chant of Shri Shakti Mantra. Generally the Pandits are able to complete this chant or Jaap of Shri Shakti Mantra in 7 days and hence this pooja is generally started on a Tuesday and it is completed on the following Tuesday and all the necessary steps for this pooja are conducted during this time which is Tuesday to Tuesday. Shri Shakti Puja vidhi or procedure may include many different steps at many stages and it is not possible to mention all of these steps here but we will cover most of the important steps for this pooja.
Sankalpam – No matter what is the nature or type of pooja, this is the most significant step in any pooja where the correct Mantras for a pooja are chosen so as to rectify the dosh. These mantras can go beyond limits and stretch to the limit of 125,000. The chant of mantras for this pooja is Shri Shakti mantras and they shall be performed in designated time and manner. To start a pooja we first choose a specific day to start and end the pooja. This day is chosen in accordance with the nature of pooja and time required by the pundits to complete the pooja.
In Sankalpam that is also known as resolution a head pundit generally takes an oath in front of the respective God and Goddess on the behalf of native stating that they are going to perform a Shri Shakti Pooja, and as a result of successful completion of Pooja in underlined manner, the native shall be blessed by the gods in form of removal of the Dosh and Yog in horoscope. He takes the name of native, his father’s name and of the assistant pundits which are 5 to 7 in number. He also mentions the proposed date and time to finish the pooja and includes any special wish and requirements of the native in the sankalpam.
After this Sankalpam pundits keep on enchanting mantras in order to finish the pooja in proposed time. They enchant for as long as 10 hours a day and take generally 7 to 10 days to finish a pooja.
Completion Ceremony- This is the next step after the Sankalpam and the pundits have finished enchanting all the mantras for the pooja. A culmination ceremony in form of completion ceremony is organized at the completion of pooja which takes generally 2 to 3 hours. Time for this ceremony may change for different poojas. In the completion ceremony pundits keep on repeating that they have finished the mantras in decided time and manner and there native should be blessed by the God and Goddess. Things related to planets among the navgraha are also worshiped in this ceremony. A pooja is organized in for different God and Goddess and they are worshiped in the completion ceremony.
Havana – An important step in any pooja that requires special attention and care in performance. The procedure of Havana is very technical and should be performed by and under guidance of expert pundits with esteem knowledge and experience. In this link pundits establish a direct connection between the native and the planets with the help of mantras and jaaps. This is done by appliance of pure and supreme power of Vedic Jyotish. After this a havan kund is formed and holy fire is lit for the pooja. The enchantment of Shri Shakti Pooja is again started and this time at the end of enchantment of each mantra, a strong sound of Swaha is produced. This sound is reproduced for each mantra and with the sound a certain specific offering from pooja samagri is devoted to the holy fire. This process is repeatedly done for long with different pooja samaghri like- flowers, ghee, oil, rice, wheat, milk and many other items. At the end to finally mark an end to pooja, a dry coconut filled with specific items is devoted to the holy fire of Havana. This brings Shri Shakti Pooja to an end.
All the above mentioned procedures are to be followed in specific manner. Failure in performance shall lead to no benefits from the pooja and native shall not be blessed by the Gods for getting the pooja performed as a remedy.
There are few precautions and prohibitions to be maintained by the native for the successful completion of pooja, during the run of Pooja. These are as follows-
- The native is advised to eat only vegetarian food. To eat non vegetarian food is strictly prohibited.
- The native is advised to refrain from smoking or consumption of alcohol during the Pooja.
- The native should keep the aura positive around him and should not surround in negativity
- The native should not get involved in any act of violence
- The native should not get sexually involved with partner weather married or unmarried
- The native should wake up early morning and pray to God, Goddess, try to connect with pooja himself/herself.
The point to be noted in Shri Shakti Pooja is that the pooja can be performed in presence of or without the presence of native. This can be done by the help of assistant pundit who shall recite all the mantras for the native. In this pooja native’s photo is kept as a resemblance and symbol of representation. Had pundit mentions in the sankalpam that the native is unable to attend the pooja and the designated pundit shall recite mantras on his behalf. This is done by assistant pundit who recites firs mantras of the native and then his own mantras.
If a native completes the enchantment of specific count of mantras of Vedic Shri Shakti Pooja, he or she is blessed by the divine Goddess Shakti. The native on completing Shri Ganesh Pooja is blessed with supreme powers and many other things as blessings. These results may change if one doesn’t perform the pooja in the manner suggested above. The benefic resuts are not achieved at the unsuccessful completion of Shri Ganesh Pooja.
