We perform a variety of Poojas for the planets of Navgraha to remove Dosh or to counter affect malefic planets. Apart from these poojas there are other poojas conducted with appliance of Vedic Mantras to get blessed by gods or pair of particular Gods. These poojas are done for the Isht Devta of respective natives without any motive, to strengthen and show their faith in God. For example, if a native’s Isht Devta is “Mahadev Shiva”, he performs pooja in order to be blessed by “Mahadev Shiva”. It’s is widely believed that going to a religious place like Trayambakeshwar temple of Lord Shiva in Nasik or other places for worship like in Ujjain, Haridwar, Gayaji or Badrinath dham and performing pooja results in blessings from the God. We want to clear the native that it is not the place but “procedure” that matters in a pooja. A simple pooja conducted at a nearby temple from your place may result more benefic than going to any of the places mentioned above, if done with proper procedures. The pooja involves a specific number of count of mantras or jaap and is performed extensively. The sole purpose for the pooja is to get blessing for the Goddess of the Knowledge “ is significant for any pooja and is different for different pooja which includes Vedic Mantra’s and Japs. The procedure varies for different poja but the base is same where you worship gods and at the end conduct a completion ceremony. We shall discuss the vidhi for “Shri Gayatri Pooja” in order to be blessed by goddess “Gayatri”.
Shri Gayatri Pooja is a divine pooja known to bless natives in form of esteem knowledge. The pooja is performed with a specific count of chant or jaap of Shri Gayatri Mantras. The pooja is performed extensively to be blessed by the Godess of Knowledge “Shri Gayatri” and to be blessed with good behavior and divine knowledge along with financial prosperity. The day specified to conduct this pooja is “Tuesday”, although it may vary in accordance with the Pundits and their commitment to the desired time to complete the pooja. Shri Gayatri Puja is generally performed for overall financial prosperity, good character and conduct and good knowledge for the native. Shri Gayatri Puja is generally started on a Tuesday and it is generally completed on the following Tuesday where the day of start of a Shri Gayatri Pooja can sometimes change depending upon the time which is required by the Pandits doing this pooja to complete the chant of Shri Gayatri Mantra. It takes 7 days to complete the jaap of all Gayatri Mantras and involve different stages to complete the Gayatri Pooja.
The first and most important step is to complete the chant of 125,000 Shri Gayatri Mantras cas all the other procedures in the pooja are built around it. At the start of pooja the vidhi says that head pundit should take the “sankalpam” where he resolves to complete the pooja in desired time and enchant all 125,000 Gayatri mantras. He also mentions the name of client and his father along with assistant pundits and asks the god to bless the native on complete of all 125, 000 Gayatri mantras. If the native has any specific wishes of financial prosperity or anything else, those are mentioned in the Sankalpam.
After the Sankalpam pundits enchant Gayatri mantra till they are able to successfully finish the count of 125,000 Gayatri mantra. A completion ceremony is ordganised after this where Lod Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Gayatri are worshipped with different offering that constitute pooja samghri like flowers, fruits, bhang, dhatura, bel patra, vermillion, bangles, red clothes and cosmetics for goddess Parvati, sweets, halwa, dhoop, Deepak, milk, curd, honey, desi ghee, sugar and other different items. Pundits keep on repeating in completion ceremony that they have completed the proposed poojai n desired manner and the native should be blessed by Goddess Gayatri as outcome of the pooja. The completio0n ceremony for each pooja defers in procedure and time.
It should be noted that in Gayatri pooja, a specific planet from navgraha is also worshipped and offered with specific offerings in the completion ceremony. Then comes the next step in which the native is asked to take blessings from specific god and goddess. Next is the most technical and important step of Gayatri pooja that is of Havana. A havan kund if formed and the holy fire is lit in this procedure. In this process a direct link is established between the native and the corresponding plants with the help of Pundits. With necessary formalities, chant of Gyatri mantras are enchanted and with the end of each mantra, a sound os swaha is produced along with which a specific constituent of pooja samghri being offered to the havan kund.Ther pooja should be carried out by the expert and handled with accuracy, precision and utmost care in order to be blessed as the outcome of Shri Gayatri Pooja.
This process goes in sync for long and is repeated again and again. These things offered to the fire form pooja samagri, and may differ for different poojas. At the end a dry coconut filled with specific fillings recommended by pundits are offered to the holy-yagna and mantras are chanted by pundits on native’s behalf. After which the native is asked to go circles around the havan- kund. These circles may be of 1, 3 or 7 in number according to the nature of pooja and this step is called “Parikrama”. This marks the end of Shri Gayatri pooja.
All the above mentioned steps are to be performed in specific manner recommended by the Pundits in accordant with the Vedic Jyotish. You may not get the desired result if you log behind in some procedure and do not perform it in prescribed manner. Other then these processes, there are certain guidelines and precautions for the native which one should follow during the running time of Pooja. One is prohibited to consumption of alcohol and should refrain from smoking. The native is advised to have good conduct and should not take part in any act of violence. One should not eat non vegetarian food till the end of pooja. One is refrained to get involved in physical or sexual contacts with his partner weather married or unmarried. One should rise early morning, take bath and pray to. He or she should try to connect with Shri Gayatri Pooja and pray to be blessed by the gods.
The point to note here is that Shri Gayatri Pooja can be conducted with or without the presence of Native. This is that the pooja can be conducted by pundits on native’s behalf if he is unable to be present due to certain circumstances. A photograph is kept as a symbol of the native and head pundit mentions the name of the pundit who shall perform mantras on native’s behalf and the native should be blessed. The pundit designated first performs the native’s mantras and then his. This way with the help of assistant pundits, Shri Gayatri Pooja can be conducted with or without the presence of the native.
