Gandmool Dosha

This is the most common dosha found in every 4 out of 5 horoscopes when examined. According to popular beliefs in astrology Gandmool dosh is  capable of causing serious threats. Definition of Gandmool dosh is a bit vague in Vedic astrology and one needs to ponder and consider other facts before asserting this dosh according to its prevalent definition. The definition states, if the Moon is placed the 6 Constellations or Nakshatras named Revati, Ashvini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha or Moola in birth horoscope of a person, he or she is considered to be born under GandMool Dosh.

This definition do not holds validation for innumerable reasons. Let us discuss the whole concept of Gandmool Dosh in detail. This dosh deals with placement of moon in Nakshatras of the horoscope when a person is born. According to Vedic sciences, there are 27 Nakshatras, they all follow each other in a cyclic order. Every Nakshatra has four Padas or say parts and each planet is placed in one of these 27 Nakshatras in any of the 4 Padas or parts. When the Moon leaves any Nakshatra and is about to enter the next Nakshatra, there comes a point where the two Nakshatras coincide where end point of one pada of Nakshatra coincides with the starting point of the pada of next Nakshatra, this can occur 27 times for 27 nakshatras. There are 12 Zodiac Signs or Rashis which follow one another again in cyclic order like the Nakshatras. When the Moon is about to leave one Rashi and enters another Rashi, there comes a point where two Rashismeets as in case of Nakshatras and can be found 12 times for 12 Rashis. Now in order to form a gandmool dosha there should be doble coincidence between Rashi’s as well as Dosha. This could happen in 3 cases, where they both coincide and moon effects negative to form Gandmool Dosha. In these three cases only Gandmool dosha can be formed contrary to the definition that does not specifies this fact. Those 3 cases are as follows-

  • 4th Pada of Revati Nakshatra and 1st Pada of Ashvini Nakshatra.
  • 4th Pada of Ashlesha Nakshatra and 1st Pada of Magha Nakshatra.
  • 4th Pada of Jyeshtha Nakshatra and1st Pada of Moola Nakshatra.

Now this indicates that every 4 out of 5 horoscopes do not have Gandmool dosha in them and it is formed only in those cases mentioned above. There are many remedies for Gandmool dosh but our personal recommendation is Gandmool Dosha pooja, where pooja for moon is conducted. This takes place on particular day of the month and generally takes 6 to 8 days to complete. Around 5 to 6 pundits perform this pooja and recites mantras to complete in scheduled time. Pooja should be performed only by experts for desired results
